Vision Statement
Pembroke Manor United Church of Christ, a spiritually growing Body of Christ, proclaims the Gospel through our unity, diversity, unconditional welcome, and outreach to those in need. Through Divine guidance, we become a vibrant ministry of study, prayer, praise and worship. Therefore, Pembroke Manor United Church of Christ shall extend the ministry of Jesus Christ by witnessing to the Gospel in Church and Society. Top

Christian Education

The Board of Christian Education at PMUCC strives to teach the "New Birth Covenant Relationship"--a level of spiritual maturity that the Lord has set before us. We have a responsible objective to coordinate programs that promote Christian education — e.g., Sunday School, Children's Church, Youth Fellowship and Vacation Bible School, and other related programs. From selecting the materials used by the Sunday School, to the recruiting and training of Sunday School teachers, our focus is in helping to provide quality Christian enrichment to the whole person. Missions (Outrea
ch
)

Missions' objectives are to engage in outreach and Christian support to our congregation and the community through a variety of projects and activities.

Our numbers may be small, but come with large hearts. Each year, Missions targets provisions for such organizations as Mothers, Inc. and Seaton House; we provide such items as hygiene products, school supplies and food for homeless families. Missions donates food and gift baskets, particularly during holidays, and we have been able to offer supportive assistance to families within our congregation and the community thanks to your donations and gifts.

The Bible Study typically meets on Wednesday evenings at 6:30pm. The study is group participation and is generally facilitated by the pastor.

Intercessory Prayer Group

Meeting on Wednesday evenings (5:30pm), this small group of "prayer warriors" gathers at the church. Hymn-singing and prayer enhances each meeting, with each individual having a turn to offer audible prayer for anyone who has indicated a special need (by previously filling out a prayer card). Members and friends may write their concerns (prayer concerns as well as praises) on special cards and place them in a designated locked box located in the foyer entrance by the Administrative area. The Intercessory Prayer Group will offer up your prayers and praises to God when they gather on Wednesday evenings.

Adult Choir

The Adult Choir meets every Wednesday at 7:30pm—except when on vacation from July to September. If you enjoy singing and desire to join the choir, please meet at the church on Wednesdays and speak with the Music Director, Mr. Randy Hobbs.

Men's Fellowship

One of the oldest social organizations for men within the church, the Men's Fellowship meets monthly for fellowship breakfast, and to conduct meetings which focus on current and future activities. Meetings are presently scheduled at 9:00am on the first Saturday of the month, at the church (unless otherwise announced).

Among the current activities we sponsor are: the Annual Easter Breakfast, Mother's Day Breakfast, and planned “outings” — e.g., a trip to a baseball game at Harbor Park (involving anyone interested in going), and other activities.

The Men's Fellowship envisions a greater outreach presence through interactions with other religious men's groups within the Hampton Roads communities; particularly UCC groups. Such a camaraderie and sharing of ideas can greatly enrich our fellowship and our goals toward wider ministry, a closer unity among local UCC congregations, and growth for PMUCC.

Membership is opened to male members of PMUCC, ages 17 and above. Friends and guests are also invited to the fellowship breakfast. Top

Women's Fellowship

Traditionally one of the largest "social" organizations of the church, the Women's Fellowship is open to all women of the church. The purpose of the oranization will be to further develop spiritual growth among its members, specifically in the following areas:

A. Study the Bible to strengthen our faith;
B. Be witnesses in the surrounding community;
C. Guide and direct our members by listening and by discussing events in our daily lives.

The Women's Fellowship may aid the church by:

A. Faithfully serving in offices of the church;
B. Organizing christian fellowship for all members of the church.

The Women's Fellowship presently meets on the First Tuesday of each month (around 11am). Please contact the church (490-8290) with questions about meeting activities and any special meeting plans.
